Constructing an outdoor stage & gathering space for the the senior ones in Poor Home
28 January 2021

An OUTDOOR STAGE & GATHERING SPACE was set up for the the senior ones in Poor Home, which is an old age home at Westhill. The idea is to create a space for the inmates here to gather, interact & relax in the shade of trees and greenery around.

The plan was to construct a stage here of size 20 ft x 12 ft & 9 benches of 6 ft in front of it so that when other NGOs & school students come here to visit the inmates, they can perform cultural programmes & also organize games & other recreational activities for them. We will also be arranging a small garden here so that this space becomes beautiful & peaceful.

> It took 4 weeks of mason work to set up all these. The labour charges for the mason work will be met with the amount shared by Jinu from Abudhabi.

> Close to 1400 solid bricks were used to set up 9 benches, stage and the fence around. Four & half loads of these solid bricks were bought for the joy of Nimna from USA.

It took 4 weeks of continous work to complete the special project for the senior ones at Poor Home, the old age home at Westhill. And as targeted, we were in a position to celebrate the 6th anniversary of Arm of Joy by handing over this serene space for the inmates. Smt. Vishalakshi Amma, the seniormost mother at this old age home inaugurated ‘Anandavanam – the park of Joy’ by lighting a lamp on 28th January 2021.

Sri. Ashokan T.A (Manager, Poor Home) & Sri. Valsaraj K. (Secretary, Poor Home) were also present on the occasion. Sri. Ranjith V.R. (music teacher of St. Michael’s school) rendered an old malayalam song as the first cultural programme on this stage.
