Outbox - Collector Kozhikode, is an official whatsapp broadcast service, established & maintained by Arm of Joy to share official & credible information from the concerned authorities with Volunteers.
Arm of Joy joined hands with District Administration of Kozhikode during the worst flood Kerala had ever witnessed, to share the most credible & official information regarding relief activities to NGOs & any other groups who are supporting the victims. When we shared this idea to District Collector, he responded quickly to it and called for a meeting in his chamber next morning. He entrusted Arm of Joy to establish & maintain a Whatsapp Helpline for broadcasting official information from District Administration to NGOs and other groups.
Paarva Creations provided all creative support to us in forming templates and are also providing other technical help. Mr. Vipin of Gadgex Showroom had offered a smart phone free of cost for this purpose. And Reliance Jio had offered a free connection for this helpline. Surya Narayanan, a Chartered Accountant actively helped in setting up databases in excel and updating the same in the particular smart phone used for the project.
We understood that too much of random information can cause confusion and that is why went ahead with this idea of supporting District Administration to establish an official communication channel. As the next phase of relief activities, when people start moving from camps to their homes was really challenging, we felt streamlined communication can connect the victims & supporting organisations in a better way.
Arm of Joy could implement a proper communication channel between District Administration & thousands of Volunteers on ground for relief activities by broadcasting messages from District Collector to about 4000 Volunteers who had shown commitment for relief work & support. We are really happy to say that this became a tremendous channel to connect with a large section of sincere Volunteers, in Cleaning the houses & public places after flood, providing food for victims until things are on track in their houses & in any other relief activities ahead. And above all, this Whatsapp connect with Volunteers will really be a powerful medium for District Administration to activate them, in case any calamity happens in future.
We have also been working in the support team of Kozhikode Collector for many days, for preparing creative stuff and managing communication channels with Volunteers who are putting their best round the clock for relief activities. Arm of Joy also assisted in the branding and content creation of 'Snehapoorvam Kozhikode', an initiative of District Administration, that provides an official platform for you all to directly help the flood hit families of Kozhikode. A video promo was also created by Arm of Joy to promote the 'Snehapoorvam Kozhikode' project.
Videos were also created by Arm of Joy for District Collector, compiling the visuals of the volunteering with regard to the flood relief activities in Kozhikode. With 4000 volunteers in the Broadcast list, ‘Outbox’ had indeed turned out to be yet another joyful initiative for Arm of Joy.
The expenditure for the project was met with the amount shared by two supporters of Arm of Joy who didn’t reveal their name.
