Constructing a Badminton Court @ Free Birds Open Shelter Home for Girls
27 December 2020

A BADMINTON COURT was set up for the girls of Free Birds Open Shelter Home. This is to give the girls a great option for recreation and also for their safety & convenience in the courtyard, which becomes slippery with mud & water when it rains. With this project, the courtyard will become neat and also it will turn out to be a great option for recreation.

- The marked area was initially raised and filled with concrete waste and soil. Then concrete work was done for the entire area which was about 1000 square feet.

- The entire court was then plastered with cement & a layer of red oxide was also added to make it look beautiful. The lining work was also done.

- A post was fixed and a LED lamp of 50 Watts was also fixed so that the kids can even play in the night. Two posts for tying the net was also fixed.

- The entire project of badminton court was executed with the support of Nimna from USA in loving memory of her father C.P. Sivasankaran. A grand dinner for the kids with special items like butter chicken & ilaneer payasam from Paragon restaurant were also arranged, as per the wish of Nimna.

Smt. Beena Philip, the elected mayor of Kozhikode Corporation inaugurated the badminton court on 27th December 2020, by playing with the girls. In a totally informal meeting, Beena teacher chatted with kids sharing some extremely positive thoughts. The kids in turn gifted a big greeting card created by themselves & teacher seemed to be so much excited on going through it’s pages.
