Rexine Beds for those with unsound minds at Thiruraktha Ashram, a rehabilitation centre for wandering people with mental illness. Biriyani was also served for all the inmates of the ashram on the 60th birthday of Preshob’s father, Sri. Ramakrishnan. Preshob wanted to celebrate the Shahshtipoorthi of his father at some deserving place in Kannur district and this happened to be the first activity of Arm of Joy in the district.

Thiruraktha Ashram, is a psycho social rehabilitation centre run by a family in a hilly area named Vellad, which is about 50kms away from the Kannur city. The institution provides shelter for about 100 people who use to wander in the streets with an unsound mind.

Good quality Rexine beds were made from Manjeri, Malappuram and the same was transported to the Ashram in Kannur. Thanking Nishanth Koppat for all the co-ordination in finding out the best manufacturer of beds, who can provide the same at a reasonable cost. We could provide beds to one ward of the Ashram where there are 16 cots, used by inmates who are slightly critical.

Sri. Baby, the founder of the Ashram briefed about the history of the institution. Sri. Lijo, son of Sri. Baby, who is in charge of the Ashram now explaining about the arrangements & facilities they are providing to the inmates. Mighty majority of the inmates are from other states. The Ashram maintains good hygiene & is quite systematic & professional in taking care of the inmates.

After cake cutting the birthday, biriyani was served for all. It was a very meaningful day with all the inmates here at Thiruraktha Ashram.
