An event for the kids of Pratheeksha Day Care Centre

The walls inside the Pratheeksha Day Care Centre were painted with child friendly images and lots of toys & learning materials were gifted for the students. The activity was organized to celebrate the birthday of Dhia, whose parents are in Doha, Qatar. ‘Pratheeksha’ is a unique project of Grama Panchayats in Malappuram District to take care of kids with special needs. The ‘Pratheeksha Day Care Centre’ at Karad looks after 7 kids from very poor background, when their parents work hard for the livelihood during day time.

‘Pratheeksha’ is undoubtedly a great relief for the kids who were always stuck within their homes because of their disabilities. The day care centre at Karad was launched a year ago and it is currently functioning in a room attached to Govt. LP School at Karad.

Arm of Joy took a decision to make the walls of this day care centre much more attractive and child friendly. And it took just one day for us to transform the room and bring lots of energy into it. The painting work was carried out on Sunday, June 28th. The artists sketched & coloured beautiful images to make the walls vibrant & colorful.

Lots of Gifts were also handed over to kids to make them happy. Drawing Books, Building blocks, Learning materials etc bought for the kids.

Smt. Kamalam of Karad Panchayat who is so keen to make this a model day care centre, explaining about the difficulties that they face and at the same time the amount of happiness that they derive from this initiative.
