An event for the children of Leukemia ward of Kozhikode Medical College

Arm of Joy celebrated Vishu with the kids of Leukemia ward. Subscription to children’s publications was arranged for one year and Back-packs were also gifted to them so that they can carry their things when they commute between hospital & home. Vishu sadhya was also served for the kids. Though Childhood Leukemia is curable, survival rate in our country is low due to expensive investigations & medications, poor nutritional status & other reasons. C4CCCI (Caring for Childhood Cancer & Chronic Illness) is an NGO under Institute of Palliative Medicine & the Department of Pediatrics of Kozhikode Medical College, to support these kids in all possible ways.
It was the 6th birthday of Adhwaith from Singapore on 9th of April and Arm of Joy decided to celebrate it at the Leukemia ward of Medical college on the day before Vishu. C4CCCI extended all its support in organizing the celebration.
Sherinre Elizabeth, the retired teacher of St.Joseph’s Boys High School, Kozhikode helping the kids to cut the cake. Deepa Pavithran, the secretary of C4CCCI on the left, was so keen to make sure that the kids have a very good time on the occasion of Vishu, though they are in the hospital.
As the kids are very much interested in reading, we arranged subscription of 9 children’s publications – Balarama, Balarama Chithrakatha, Balarama Digest, Kalikudukka, Magic Pot, Tell me Why, Balabhumi, Minnaminni & Chithrakatha for the next one year.
Dr.Ajith Kumar V.T, the additional professor of IMCH, who also serves as the President of C4CCCI, Sherine Teacher, Dr.Aquil Kalanad, Dr.Varsha Vidhyadharan, Mrs. Sulaikha Gafoor, the Joint Secretary of C4CCCI, and Aneesh Gangadharan distributed the back-packs arranged by Arm of Joy.
Vishukaineettam of Rs.100/- each was also given to all kids present. Sherine Teacher gave away the Vishukaineettam to the kids. The first copy of children’s publications was also handed over to the kids.
