An event for the inmates of DD Home

A very special Onam celebration at DD Home. Onappookalam, Onasadhya, Onam songs & Kadamkathakal made the event lively. Some of the inmates of DD Home have been here for 50 years or so and first time they are seeing a Pookalam in their compound. The event was sponsored by the women’s wing of Chalappuram Rakhsa Samithi. CRS (Chalappuram Rakhsa Samithi) is the residential association of Chalappuram area and they have a women’s wing which is so active.

A Pookalam was prepared in the name of CRS (Chalappuram Rakhsa Samithi). The inmates were active participants in preparation of Pookalam.

Food was ordered from outside and the inmates themselves did the catering. Since most of them are disabled, they took Sadhya items in their plates and had it from their rooms.

After Onasadhya, there was an Interactive session by CRS ladies with the inmates. The awesome singer of DD Home, Sri. Moitheen sang a Rafi song. Bathery Thatha also came up with an old song.

Smt. Chithra of CRS, with tricky questions for the inmates made the session very lively. Smt. Valsala teacher, the president of the women’s wing of CRS distributed sweets for the winners of tricky questions round. A gift packet with Soap, comb & others were distributed to all.

Smt. Valsala teacher handed over Blankets for all inmates. Shirts, Nighties, T-shirts & others were also gifted to the inmates. It turned out to be a very memorable Onam of their lifetime.
