An event for the inmates of DD Home

A day with the inmates of DD Home at Chevayur which is under Poor Home Society, Westhill. Gifting Dishware for having food. An event to celebrate the birthday of A.R.Madhavan, son of Anoop. G & Rekha Das.

DD Home is a rehabilitation centre for those who got cured from Leprosy. There is a hospital for the treatment of Leprosy in Chevayur and it is sad to say that a tendency to abandon leprosy patients still exists in this society, even after they are completely cured from the illness. DD Home provides food & shelter for such people, who are not accepted by their relatives. Many of the people here are disabled due to this terrible illness.

As many of the inmates here don’t get the sense of heat, it is tough for them to have food from steel plates which are hot. They will get to know about the burns only later. So we thought of purchasing high quality fibre dishes for them.

Birthday boy Madhavan & Birthday girl Chindu, who was a volunteer of Arm of Joy cut the cake and served to all the inmates. The distribution of Dishware happened after that and the inmates were very happy to receive this.

We also spend lot of time conversing with the inmates in detail to understand what exactly are the immediate requirements of the inmates. There were many things to be resolved at the earliest and we promised that we would try our best to meet those requirements in one month’s time.
