Shade goes Classy

An event for the girls of Free Birds Open Shelter Home.

We had earlier converted the shade under a tree in the courtyard of Free Birds Open Shelter Home for Girls to a wonderful space to sit & relax. Sri. Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri had inaugurated ‘Shade of Joy’ by singing a song on 28th of July and since then it has become the most favourite spot for the little ones there.

We then thought of making it more convenient & classy and the work was going on in the last few weeks. A fence was made on both sides of the seating arrangement, stones were laid on the ground, Granite slabs were paved on the top of the seating arrangement & good quality exterior emulsion painting was done. An event which was executed with the money shared by Anup Abraham from Dubai, Rinnet Sebastian from Vellore, Fincy Felix from Sharjah & Remya P.R from Kozhikode, on various occasions.

The renowned writer Sri. P.R.Nathan dedicated the ‘Classy Shade of Joy’ for the kids on 9th Oct., by spending an hour & telling lots of stories to them under the tree. A token of gratitude for Sri. P.R. Nathan was handed over at the end of the event.

About 50-60 people can now sit in this shade conveniently and undoubtedly this will be their favourite spot from hereon.
