An event for the boys & girls of Free Birds Open Shelter Home.

A two-day film festival was organized for all the boys & girls of Free Birds Open Shelter Home. The Smart Room which we had set up at the Boys Home of Free Birds was the theatre for the festival and 7 movies were screened here in these 2 days. As the room has got 5.1 surround speaker system & also a 50 inch LED TV, it was a real audio visual treat for all the kids.
A DVD player was bought for this purpose and this will remain in Free Birds Boys Home for the kids to watch movies in the future also. The cost of the same along with the DVDs and also other expenditure of the fest were met for the joy of Nadeera from Kozhikode.
On the first day of the fest, the following 3 movies were screened.
> Ottal, the Malayalam movie directed by Jayaraj which tells the story of a young boy & his relationship with his grandfather, will be the inaugural movie of the fest.
> Kaaka Muttai, the Tamil movie directed by M. Manikandan which revolves around two slum children of Chennai with a desire to taste a pizza, will also be screened before noon.
> Ice Age : Dawn of the Dinosaurs directed by Carlos Saldanha which is a computer-animated comedy adventure film will be shown in the afternoon to ensure that the little ones in Free Birds also have great fun.
On the 2nd day of the Kids Film Fest, we screened the following 4 movies.
> Taare Zameen Par, the Hindi movie produced & directed by Aamir Khan exploring the life & imagination of an 8-year-old child who has got a reading disorder.
> The Jungle Book, the English movie directed by Jon Favreau, that tells the story of Mowgli, an orphaned human boy who, guided by his animal guardians, sets out on a journey of self-discovery while evading the threatening Shere Khan.
> Malli, a Tamil feature film directed by Santosh Sivan, which revolves around the story of a poor girl who spends most of her time helping her family by collecting firewood, and playing games in a nearby forest with her deaf & dumb best friend.
> Life of Pi, the superhit English movie Directed by Ang Lee, telling the story of an Indian boy surviving a ship wreck & floating in the Pacific Ocean on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger.
