Convenient Wash Area

An event for the inmates of DD Home on 25th September 2021.

We arranged a special facility for the inmates of DD Home, a rehabilitation centre for old aged people cured from leprosy, but abandoned by relatives. They have just one or two taps in their compound, to wash their hands after having food. We have always noticed that it is quite a struggle for them, as most of them are disabled due to leprosy.

To find a solution for this, we set up a Wash Area for them adjacent to their block, by spending half a lakh rupees, where we have fixed a big stainless steel wash basin with 3 taps & a big mirror. The wash area was inaugurated by Aysha thaatha, the senior most inmate of the home. They can now wash their hands & legs conveniently from this spot and this is undoubtedly a big relief for them as all of them are disabled due to leprosy.

This has been arranged for them in memory of R. Vijayan Pillai from Kollam, as per the wish of his wife Remadevi & daughters. The work got over yesterday and we are officially handing it over to the inmates today on the first death anniversary of Vijayan Pillai.
